Cosmetic eye surgery - eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
The development of lower eye bags and hooding of the upper eyelid can make one look tired and older and add some years to ones face age.
Cosmetic Upper Eyelid Surgery (Upper blepharoplasty)
 |
At our cosmetic surgery clinic, Doctors Makeover, the incision (cut) will be skilfully placed in the crease of the upper eyelid during cosmetic eye surgery. The plastic surgeon will also remove the excess skin and fat together with some muscles.
In the immediate post-operative period, we apply cold compresses on and around the eyes to diminish the swelling and bruising which are worse in the first 48 hours and then they gradually vanish. Five days after the upper lid cosmetic eye surgery the stitches are removed.
As the cosmetic surgery scar (incision) is placed in the fold of the upper lid, it is not visible when the eye is open and even becomes inconspicuous usually within 8 months when the eye is closed.

Cosmetic Lower Eyelid Surgery (Lower blepharoplasty)
 |
At our cosmetic surgery clinic, Doctors Makeover, the incision (cut) is performed close to the eyelashes. The plastic surgeon removes the excess skin. The excess fat is also removed and the skin will be stitched.
In the immediate post-operative period after cosmetic eye surgery, we apply cold compresses on the eyes to diminish the swelling and bruising which are worse for the first 48 hours and then gradually subside.
The stitches are removed five days after the lower lid cosmetic eye surgery. The cosmetic surgery scar (incision) is inconspicuous usually 6 months after the operation.

Complications of cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
Like any other cosmetic surgery, eyelid surgery also carries some risks which are rare but you need to be aware of them. These adverse effects include wound bleeding, breakdown and infection, although this is a clean operation and the risk is minimal.
There is also a very low chance of lid roll inwards or outwards (ectropion or entropion) and other rare complications. We will discuss these risks and other issues and answer any queries you may have, during your pre-operative consultation.
