Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction is the removal of excess and unwanted fatty tissue to reshape the body. Doctors Makeover is proud to be one of the few cosmetic surgery clinics in the country to combine the use of laser lipolysis (smartlipo) and some elements of traditional liposuction in the same procedure at a reasonable and competitive price.

We use Smartlipo to melt the fat, tighten skin and stimulate collagen formation in a less invasive environment and use a traditional liposuction pump to aspirate the melted fat to enhance results. Liposuction is commonly carried out on the abdomen, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, hips, double chin and knees.

However, there are physiological limits as to the quantity of fat that can be safely removed from the body and, therefore, liposuction is not designed as a treatment for obesity. Furthermore, it is known that the pattern of distribution of fat in the male is different from that of a female and measuring BMI (body mass index) only has a very limited significance when one approaches the treatment of each individual person.

The procedure

At Doctors Makeover we perform this operation as a day case surgery, under local anaesthetic, taking 1-2 hours. After injecting local anaesthetic to numb the area, a small cannula is inserted to melt and then, in many cases, extract the fat from the body.

The procedure is painless and because it is carried out under local anaesthetic it is safer and you can walk away afterwards.

Recovery from liposuction (fat removal)

As we use a combination of Smartlipo and some modified elements of traditional liposuction, there is no or only minimal bruising after this procedure. There might be slight swelling to the areas treated. Liposuction assisted with laser lipolysis (smartlipo) is less invasive with quicker recovery and better results than traditional liposuction alone.

Depending on the nature of your job, you might not need to take any day off and you might only find minimal bruising or swelling in the area which usually subsides within a week or two. We advise you to wear a support garment for a week (occasionally shorter or longer depending on the site), after the operation.

Despite using Smartlipo and some modified elements of traditional liposuction with much enhanced results compared with using Smartlipo or traditional liposuction alone, we offer a very competitive and relatively affordable price and we are also in a position to offer payment on a 0% finance arrangement provided that the whole account will be settled within six to twelve months.
