Thread Veins and Varicose Veins |
The prominence of thread veins might show through the skin, giving rise to a red and purplish unsightly appearance. These veins are commonly visible on the legs, face, nose, chest and arms.
It is thought that changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes and alcohol account for the majority of thread veins but inheritance factors also play an important role in their causation.
Particular forms of thread veins are also known as telangiectasia which is the dilation of a small blood vessel with radiant branches located close to the surface of the skin.
